Walk Out the Door. Fish the Lake.
One of the best parts of staying at The Lake House is having Goose Lake right outside your door. This private 10-acre lake is reserved for Lake House guests, so you can enjoy catch-and-release fishing without having to pack up the car or head to a crowded public access point.
Fishing is available year-round, and in the winter, guests may also be able to enjoy ice fishing when conditions are right. Because ice conditions can change quickly, guests are responsible for checking conditions before heading onto the lake.
An Iowa fishing license may be required, so be sure to review current rules and license options through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources before your stay.
Not Everyone Has to Love Ice Fishing.
One of you can head out on the ice while the other stays warm inside with coffee, a good book, and a front-row view of Goose Lake. The heated sunroom is a cozy place to relax and enjoy the lake without ever stepping outside.
And if ice fishing isn’t your thing at all, that’s perfectly fine too. The Lake House is a peaceful winter getaway in Independence, Iowa, with beautiful lake views, comfortable spaces to unwind, and plenty of room to slow down for the weekend.
